Honouring Our Elders: Black, Queer & Still Here

This intergenerational conversation places our older community members at its heart. It is for our LGBTQIA+ elders and for all whose identities stretch beyond those letters. We will honour their wisdom, the legacies they carry, and ask what queer liberation looks like for them now. Together we'll explore what community means across a lifetime and celebrate joy, survival, and the enduring power of Black life.

For those who don't yet have the language for who they are, and those who are beyond categories altogether, you are welcome here.

Come as you are, we honour every version of you.

Accessibility note: The Ritzy's mezzanine is not step-free. We know that's a problem. The lift reaches the bar area  just below and we're exploring how to hold the event on both floors simultaneously. We're often asked to do liberatory work within institutions that remain inaccessible or exclusionary. That contradiction is real, and it doesn't disappear because we acknowledge it. We're working within imperfect systems while trying to transform them. Not every room is the room we'd choose, but the work still matters. We haven't been able to find an alternative space at such short notice, and we're sorry. In the meantime, we're trying to find ways to bring the room to you, including a livestream. If you have any questions, or creative ideas about how we can make this work, please get in touch.
